The Role
Become a Gap Assistant at Walhampton
Fixed Term (usually one academic year or one term)
An exciting opportunity is available to join our Gap Assistant team, working alongside subject teachers. The primary role of the Gap Assistant is to provide support to teachers across the School and in the boarding environment, getting to know the pupils and building relationships of trust with them. They will also be expected to support the Boarding House staff team and fully immerse themselves in the day-to-day life of the School.
In addition, they will have other responsibilities such as providing administrative support in our busy school office. Successful candidates must be flexible, hard-working, and enthusiastic. This is a varied and fulfilling position, perfect for someone looking for a temporary role, whether waiting to travel, having returned from travelling, or before starting university.
Hours will be term-time, including some evenings and weekends on a rota, plus school trips and expeditions which may fall over weekends during term-time. The position is residential to assist with boarding duties, with accommodation provided either within the boarding house or in the gap flats. Accommodation will be available for the Autumn and Easter breaks, but it will need to be vacated for the Summer holidays. There is no rental charge for accommodation or food during term time, but a small contribution toward utilities is required. We also welcome applications from candidates who prefer to live in the surrounding area.

* Attend school functions when required.
* Escort children on public transport, including train journeys to and from London, as well as ferry trips to and from the Isle of Wight.
