Job Title: Biodiversity Net Gain Delivery Lead
Location: Falmer (Brighton) Hybrid working (2 days a week office/site)
Salary: up to £60,000 depending on experience
Job Summary:
Working within our Land & Property team as part of our Environmental Management Team, you will be responsible for ensuring we deliver biodiversity net gain on all developments through to completion. This role will work closely with internal teams including design, construction, ecology and land management colleagues as well as external consultants and stakeholders. The post holder will need to have strong communication skills and experience in working collaboratively with multiple parties to achieve successful outcomes. They must also have a good understanding of the planning system, environmental legislation and biodiversity net gain requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure biodiversity net gain is delivered across development projects by undertaking appropriate assessments and securing suitable mitigation or enhancement measures.
2. Provide specialist advice to project managers and other stakeholders regarding biodiversity issues associated with development proposals.
3. Assess the potential impacts of development on protected species and habitats, and identify appropriate measures to avoid or minimise those impacts.
4. Identify opportunities for habitat creation and restoration, and lead on their delivery.
5. Monitor the progress of development projects to ensure that biodiversity net gain targets are being met.
6. Maintain records of biodiversity assessments and mitigation measures in accordance with relevant legislation and company policy.
7. Liaise with statutory conservation bodies (e.g. Natural England) and other organisations regarding biodiversity issues associated with development proposals.
Qualifications:
8. A degree level qualification in a relevant subject such as biology, ecology, geography or environmental science would be beneficial but not essential.
9. A good knowledge and understanding of UK biodiversity and conservation legislation.
10. Experience of working with protected species and habitats.
11. Experience of carrying out habitat surveys and assessments.
12. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
13. Ability to work independently and take responsibility for own workload.
14. Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Word.
15. Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
16. A full driving licence is required for this role.

This role will be full time Monday to Friday with a hybrid approach to working between home and office.
