Job Title: Scheduler
Location: Wolverhampton
Job Type: Fixed Term Contract - 6 months (with a view to going permanent)
Salary: £25,000-£28,000 per annum.
Job Overview:
The Scheduler will play a critical role in the efficient and safe operation of the gas industry by managing and coordinating the scheduling of work activities, ensuring optimal resource allocation, compliance with regulatory requirements, and smooth day-to-day operations. This role will involve working closely with engineers, field teams, and other departments to organise maintenance, repairs, and construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Scheduling Operations:
1. Develop and maintain detailed work schedules for gas pipeline, processing, and storage operations, including routine maintenance, emergency response, and project work.
2. Coordinate with field teams, engineering, and contractors to ensure timely and safe execution of scheduled activities.
3. Prioritise tasks based on urgency, compliance requirements, and resource availability.
2. Resource Management:
1. Allocate resources efficiently, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to meet operational needs.
2. Ensure that all required resources (personnel, equipment, and supplies) are available and prepared for scheduled work.
3. Communicate any changes or delays in scheduling to relevant teams to minimise disruption.
3. Compliance and Safety:
1. Ensure scheduling aligns with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
2. Monitor and verify that all work activities are scheduled in accordance with relevant laws and industry best practices.
3. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety and compliance regulations to ensure that schedules do not conflict with any critical safety requirements.
4. Communication and Coordination:
1. Act as a liaison between the field operations team, contractors, management, and other departments.
2. Provide regular updates to senior management on scheduling status, potential delays, and resource constraints.
3. Respond to urgent scheduling requests or issues and work to resolve them promptly.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
1. Maintain accurate records of all scheduled work, including scope, duration, and resource allocation.
2. Prepare and distribute daily/weekly schedules to internal teams and external contractors.
3. Provide detailed reports on work progress, delays, and completed activities for management review.
6. Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution:
1. Anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts or delays, balancing multiple priorities effectively.
2. Develop contingency plans for unexpected disruptions or changes in resource availability.
7. Technical Skills:
1. Strong understanding of gas industry operations, including pipeline construction, maintenance, and processing.
2. Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices.
3. Ability to interpret technical drawings and project documentation.
8. Communication Skills:
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2. Ability to collaborate and negotiate effectively with various stakeholders.
