Job Role
Join us at Eden House, an Approved Premises (AP) for up to 26 women, supported by a specially trained all-women workforce! You'll provide support for women returning to the community after serving time in prison or those with a residential requirement as part of a community sentence.
We're looking for a Cook to plan, prepare, and cook a variety of well-balanced meals to meet the nutritional needs of our residents. Working within a designated budget, you'll also maintain accurate food inventories, invoice records, and food waste monitoring systems.
Your excellent communication skills will be essential in delivering relevant workshops to our residents, helping them prepare and cook their own meals in a supportive team environment. We need someone who can work independently whilst maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards.
In return for your dedication, knowledge, and commitment, we offer a competitive salary of £24,570 up to £27,000 per annum (dependent on experience) with these great benefits:

Location: Bristol
Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week, working every other weekend. Core hours 10:00 - 18:30 on weekdays and 09:30 - 16:30 on weekends.

Key Responsibilities
* Plan menus and order food within budget, considering the diversity and nutritional needs of residents.
* Cook a varied and nutritious diet, ensuring effective use of ingredients to reduce waste, and provide catering for specialist diets based on religious beliefs, medical issues, and health.
* Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety, complying with all relevant legislation and regulations, and ensure the food preparation area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitised.
* Maintain accurate food inventories.
* Ensure proper storage of food items at appropriate temperatures and conditions.
* Regularly conduct stock checks, ensuring stock is rotated, restocked, and out-of-date items are removed.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with food suppliers, seeking best value.
* Comply with food safety legislation and ensure all daily monitoring records that support food safety systems and procedures are completed.
Skills and Experience
* Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to use basic IT systems for managing stock, budgets, and emails.
* Knowledgeable about current health, safety, and hygiene regulations for kitchen work.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with good listening abilities.
* High standards of hygiene.
* Organised and methodical approach.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and colleagues.
* Team player with the ability to participate and contribute effectively.
