Job Summary
Will be the clinical leader for the theatre speciality in a supervisory and multi-skilled role. Will take responsibility for the clinical management of the theatre and the provision of patient care. Acts in a manner that upholds the values of the Trust and that of the profession ensuring that service delivered contributes to supporting the principles of clinical governance.
Main duties of the job
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Act as a Clinical Nurse/leader to ensure the needs of patients are recognised and met by the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Will take steps to deal with, and notify the Lead Nurse of any difficulty in the care planning process and in implementing planned care.
2. Responsible for leading the theatre team in the provision of care ensuring that effective communication systems exist and that all staff receive team briefing and have the opportunity to discuss matters relating to their services and trust matters.
3. Act as a point of liaison for multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working in order to achieve the best possible outcome for patient care. Will notify the Lead Nurse of any deficits in service provision from other agencies.
4. Provide registered practitioner support to junior nursing staff ensuring that staff training needs are identified and they have a personal development plan and professional profile undertaking IPR's within the post holder's area of responsibility.
5. Accountable and responsible for accurate and legible record keeping in accordance with local policies and NMC guidelines. In case of ODP - in line with AODP Code of conduct.
6. Undertake additional training as required to meet the needs of the patients and register any additional skills acquired as a result of enhanced practice.
About Us
You will need to be a qualified RN or ODP Level III with a minimum of 3 years experience at band 5 within a theatre setting. Applicants must hold a recognised theatre qualification i.e. ODP III, ENB 183 or equivalent. A teaching qualification and proof of education at degree level would be an advantage. Applicants must be highly motivated, multi-skilled theatre professionals, who enjoy working within a busy environment. The successful candidate will be jointly responsible for the clinical management of Theatres and the provision of patient care, and must be prepared to gain skills relevant to the role within this department. You will be encouraged to participate in the ongoing improvement of the clinical service and ensure implementation of the Trust's policies, aims and objectives.
