We are seeking a physiotherapist to join our well-established and dynamic physiotherapy service, working across Watford General Hospital, St Albans City Hospital, and the West Hertfordshire Therapy Unit at Jacketts Field, Abbots Langley.
This role is suitable for an experienced Band 5 physiotherapist looking to progress or an existing Band 6 wishing to further develop their skills through our rotational post.
Our Band 6 rotational scheme provides experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, offering opportunities to build expertise across a range of clinical areas.
Rotations, typically lasting six months, include:
1. Emergency Department/Acute Assessment Unit
2. Frailty
3. Care of the Elderly
4. Respiratory, including ITU
5. General Medicine
6. Surgical, including outpatient Amputees
7. Acute Stroke Unit
8. Orthopaedics – trauma and elective (cross-site working)
9. MSK
Each rotation is supported by experienced senior staff who provide guidance and ensure high standards of care.
In-service training opportunities are available, and the role includes supervision of Band 5 physiotherapists, assistants, and undergraduate students.
Additionally, there are senior leadership development opportunities and a structured in-service training programme. External course funding may also be available through the department’s collaboration with the University of Hertfordshire.
The successful candidate would be providing highly skilled physiotherapy assessment and treatment inpatients across Watford General Hospital, St Albans City Hospital and the West Hertfordshire Therapy Unit at Jacketts Field, Abbots Langley.
The post holder will join a growing integrated team of OT’s and Physio’s and will have the opportunity to develop both their clinical and supervisory skills.
Excellent clinical reasoning and therapy handling skills are a prerequisite for this post.

The department operates a seven-day service, and this post includes participation in the weekend rota (approximately 1:4 - 1:6 weekends), with rest days allocated the following week. There is also a requirement to join the respiratory on-call evening rota.
Training opportunities are available to support the development of specialist skills in line with personal development reviews (PDRs).
