The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.
Hourly rate of pay: £15.52 - £16.58
Temporary until 31st March 2026.
This is a 39 week sessional post i.e. working hours will be during school term time plus in-service days.
Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Thursday, 08:00-16:15
Friday, 08:00-13:15
Starting and finishing times are flexible.

We are seeking a suitably qualified School and Family Support Worker to join our team at Pinkie St Peter's Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with class teachers, the senior leadership team, our pupils and families to improve pupil outcomes in attendance, achievement and social and emotional goals. If you are passionate about making a difference to our most vulnerable children and young people then we would love to hear from you.
The School and Family Support Worker will provide a vital link between home and school, removing barriers, promoting engagement, and supporting the whole family unit.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable young people and families, and a sound understanding of community support networks and agencies.
Job Details
To support the school in liaising with families and carers, to improve pupil outcomes in relation to attendance, safeguarding and social, emotional and academic achievement.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Educated to SVQ Level 1, General Standard Grade, National 4 or equivalent in English.
Driving Licence A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.
PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
