About the role:
We are looking for a Security Assistant to join our Estates and Facilities Department at The Bedford College Group. As a Security Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our students by:
1. Providing support to the Estates management team by promoting a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
2. Ensuring a professional, customer-oriented, and value-for-money service to the college community.
3. Completing routine patrols of the assigned campus to ensure the maintenance of good order and monitor behavior on site, including internal and external patrols.
4. Responding and assisting with different types of emergencies; first aid, fire alarms, bomb alerts, floods, gas leaks.
5. Responding to reports of intruders on site and other crime-related incidents, protecting the college property against loss, theft, and damage.
6. Undertaking first aid training and being a college first aider.
About you:
1. SIA training & licence.
2. Literacy and communication skills with excellent verbal and written English.
3. Minimum of 1 year’s work experience in security.
4. Experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
5. Willing to obtain a basic level of health and safety knowledge.
6. Experience of working with the public and with young people.
7. Ability, tact, and diplomacy to deal with people, including senior staff, students, and visitors, in all circumstances, including emergencies and times of stress.
8. Ability to work on own initiative and to support and assist team members.
9. Current clean valid full driving licence, access to a vehicle, and ability to work at all College sites.
10. Ability to be contacted by telephone, occasionally at short notice.
