We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced individual to join Cambridge University Hospitals and be part of the team delivering our newly established Performance Function, benefiting our patients, colleagues, organisation and local system.
The Performance Manager will form part of a newly established Performance team reporting to the Head of Performance and will have regular contact across the organisation. As a Performance Manager, you will help establish and embed a culture of accountability and performance across the organisation. The Performance Function is critical in supporting CUH to deliver high quality, productive care.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with colleagues across Corporate and Divisional Teams, you will ensure that we are using business intelligence to drive insightful and impactful conversations about performance which lead to tangible change. The team is responsible for defining and delivering the accountability framework in the organisation and to take on projects for in year performance. These projects aim to improve understanding of the root causes of performance concerns, to assess the best intervention and evaluate the impact of these interventions. The team also plays a key role in longer term trust-wide planning and development of governance and reporting arrangements.
Qualifications
* Masters or equivalent experience/qualification in business, operations management, planning, health management, analytical or related field Project management qualification (e.g. Prince 2, Managing Successful Projects) or equivalent experience/qualification
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Experience
* Demonstrable NHS experience obtained at a senior level in performance management
* Experience of working closely with data to identify drivers of performance and areas of opportunity.
* Experience of creating robust performance improvement trajectories based on analysis of data and qualitative information
* Analysis of project proposals and business case development; understanding of the necessary stages of implementation of innovative projects in a health and social care environment
* Proven experience of working with external partners at all levels
* Experience of building effective cross functional working relationships to drive organisational agenda
* Experience of planning and delivering programmes, projects and services on time
* Experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines whilst directing work of other teams
* Substantial experience in an operational or performance and planning role
Knowledge
* Knowledge of operational management including capacity management and patient flow in an acute hospital setting
* Knowledge in performance management, programme management
* Knowledge of quality improvement in a health care setting
* Working knowledge of health and social care roles, responsibilities, priorities and policy direction.

* Able to communicate highly complex information to a range of stakeholders
* Able to influence across teams, departments and organisations
* Able to prepare clear, concise, grammatical, correctly referenced and version controlled reports and documents
* Able to work and communicate with clinicians and senior managers

* Able to work under pressure and within difficult/tight timescales
