We operate from our depots in Kilmarnock, Scotland and provide a mobile service to the rail industry over the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Advisor to join our team on a fixed term basis for 12 months. This role is critical in promoting and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental practices within our organisation. As an HSE Advisor, you will work closely with various departments to foster a safety-first culture, provide advice, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and areas for improvement across all operational sites.
* Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
* Provide training and support to employees on HSE policies, procedures, and best practices to promote a culture of safety.
* Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
* Develop a risk assessment and safe working procedure program.
Key Relationships and Contracts
* Reporting directly to the HQSE Manager.
* Day to day working closely with internal and external stakeholders
* Supporting the Production Management Team and overall workforce.
Key Skills and Experience Requirements
* To have demonstrable experience within the HSE function within rail, industrial or manufacturing businesses.
* A 'can do' attitude and a genuine desire to drive improvements through communication.
* Be fully conversant on the methodology and rollout of a 5 x 5 risk assessment program.
* Create and deliver Toolbox talks.
* Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* 5 years minimum experience in a rail, industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Good relationship building skill set, able to develop internal and external relationships.
* Exceptional eye for detail, able to spot opportunities and risks and recommend mitigation's pro-actively.
* A strong work ethic, ability to work to deadlines and manage your own workload effectively.
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent as a minimum.
* The creation of PUWER reports desirable but not essential.
* Have a working knowledge of Legal Registers.
* IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent desirable but not essential.
* IEMA Foundation (environmental) desirable but not essential.
* Permit to Work and Control of Contractors experience desirable.
* Experience of liaising with Maintenance/Facilities teams desirable.
* Be able and confident to conduct employee inductions to new and current employees.
