Sandwell Adult Social Care is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Principal Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Independent Living Centre. In this pivotal role, you will support the organisation’s vision and priorities both internally and externally, including taking an active and leading role in the development of Social Care Future.
Lead on occupational therapy research and development and implementation of occupational therapy good practice, ensuring links with external research providers.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to influence service development and support vulnerable residents in achieving independence.
Key Responsibilities
To develop and implement local policies and procedures specific to service provision.
To provide appropriate briefings, guidance and advice to their service manager as appropriate.
To provide frameworks, for the guidance, leadership and development of individual service areas and oversight of performance and delivery to provide excellent customer care and services to Sandwell residents.
To work with the line manager to ensure effective functioning of the team in all operational matters.
To act as day-to-day budget holder for a substantial allocated and devolved budget, ensuring services are delivered within resources.
Proactively promote partnership working and integration within and outside of the council.

To work with the Team Manager to ensure day to day functioning of the team in operational matters
Ensure that intervention approaches are evidence-based and aligned with current best practices.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Educated to RQF level 6 (Bachelor’s degree) or equivalent by experience.
5 years post qualification experience in an adult social care setting, including working at a team manager level in a range of settings with complex casework.
Management and leadership experience, including clinical supervision of Occupational Therapists and students.
Experience of working with stakeholders/supply chains and partners to agree and deliver appropriate commercial structures that engender delivery.
Strong leadership and behavioral skills with the ability to focus on results forging a highly performing and motivated team from diverse backgrounds to achieve strategic objectives.
Proven influencing skills with an ability to lead and deliver change to increase quality of service.
Proven ability of developing solutions to deliver quality of services with financial constraints and competing priorities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement.
