Electrical Design Engineer required by my client, a world-renowned and award-winning manufacturer.
Working to aid the electrical systems design and engineering within the department, helping to advance my client's designs into a new era. You will help produce detailed electrical plans for manufacture and production.
Responsibilities:
1. Produce drawings to full production level, including detailed technical routing/schematic drawings, to enable the production teams and external contractors to efficiently produce the yacht and its components.
2. Have a clear understanding of electrical systems while looking at developments within the marine sector, helping to develop newer technology integration throughout the range.
3. Produce drawings and specification documents to allow quotation, purchase, and manufacture of components.
4. Liaise with both the internal purchasing team, external suppliers, and the production teams within the business.
5. Engagement with DFMA activities to optimize implementation in production.
6. Lead the development of the electrical specification and operation while working with my client's electrical component/panel suppliers.
The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of electrical calculations and regulations. You will need to be confident in preparing electrical load cases, i.e., working out generator and battery sizing requirements. This is a key part of developing new products via the initial electrical infrastructure during the concept phase.
Essential Skills:
1. An understanding of multi/split phase voltages - 110v, 240v, etc.
2. A good understanding of DC/Battery and charging systems - 12v and 24v depending upon size.
3. Electrical drawings are produced in AutoCAD, but some 3D experience such as Solid Works or Siemens NX would be beneficial.
4. A team player who is keen to lead and develop the introduction of future electrical systems.
5. Ability to deal with any electrical design issues raised in a methodical manner.
6. Familiarity with future technologies such as hybrid/digital switching and developing more silent running applications (i.e., where batteries are used rather than a generator).
