UK Leading fencing contractor looking to recruit experienced Fencers. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to undertake a crucial role within our fast-growing & progressive business. This is a rewarding and progressive role suited to an energised and motivated individual.
Experience & Qualifications
* Must be a team player and reliable.
* Knowledge & experience in a variety of fencing systems
* Fencing Operatives will hold as a minimum a FISS/ CSCS / CPCS card.
* Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment
* Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives
* Detail oriented.
* Capacity to fulfill your duties independently and on time.
* A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing the site by digging holes and trenches in line with where the fencing will be positioned.
* Measuring the length of each section that requires fencing and determining the requisite height of each fence in collaboration with clients’ requirements.
* Suggesting alternate finished based on the climate, topography, and appearance of each area, if needed.
* Joining, raising, and securing segments of the fence in place.
* Checking for gaps and vulnerabilities in the fencing and correcting these, if needed.
Health & Safety and Environmental
* Provide effective supervision on site and ensure operatives under direct control are instructed in safe systems of work as it applies to site operations.
* Ensure you and your team are competent to carry out the work and hold appropriate certificates for plant and equipment.
* Ensure all RAMS, Lift Plans and Permits are in place before start of work.
* Completing point of work risk assessments to document and control additional risks arising during the works.
* Ensure that all checks and certification on plant and equipment are carried out and in date.
* Ensure employees work in a safe and tidy manner and wear personal protective equipment.
* Ensure that all employees under their supervision know the whereabouts of first aid facilities and the names of first aiders.
* Report all near misses, accidents/incidents involving injury, damage to property or lost time to the Project Manager and HSEQ Department.
* Ensure that any required safety equipment / safety devices are always used, properly adjusted, and maintained. Where defects occur with plant and equipment immobilise it until repaired.
* Ensure knowledge and compliance with respect to environmental controls and management.
Quality Control
* Ensure fences are constructed to the correct standard in line with project specification and to a high standard.
* Inspecting the quality of materials.
* Completion of contract inspection sheets in accordance with the Inspection & Test Plan.
General Site Management
* Working with Lead Fencer to ensure that levels of productivity are being met in compliance with programme or piece work rates.
* Have a reasonable understanding of Fencing specifications and good knowledge of installation techniques.
* Co-operate and liaise with client/principal contractors as applicable.
* Ensure adherence to legal and company policies & procedures.
