Full-time Description Position Objective: To apply principles of accounting to analyze expense information, prepare and reconcile expense statements, and use appropriate accounting control procedures Primary Responsibilities and Duties: • In consultation and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by PETA and its entities: o Maintain full general ledger accounting for the PETA Foundation (U.K.), PETA India, and Animal Rahat o Review PETA U.K.’s bank accounts weekly and make deposit, fee, and payment entries o Handle accounts payable for PETA U.K., including maintaining vendor files, processing checks and void checks, and processing rush requests o Reconcile asset accounts for PETA U.K. o Review, reconcile, and upload all account activity for PETA India and Animal Rahat monthly o Complete monthly budgets for PETA India and Animal Rahat o Create accounts receivable invoices for PETA U.K. o Process payroll and related tax payments for PETA U.K. o Manage corporate credit card programs for PETA U.K. o Process income and make related entries for PETA and PETA Foundation (U.S.) o Enter investment activity, complete monthly investment reconciliations, and process stock donations for PETA and PETA Foundation (U.S.) o Provide reports and documentation for annual financial audits o Generate and maintain standard operating procedures o Analyze, verify, and post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records o Analyze, investigate, and correct accounting entries o Perform reconciliation of complex transactions • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor Requirements • Completion of college level accounting coursework • Minimum of two years of accounting office experience • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel • Proficiency in Sage 100 or similar accounting software • Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail • Proven excellent analytical skills • Proven ability to work independently and use discretion • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times • Commitment to the objectives of the organization The hourly pay range for this position is $16.73 - $22.49 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
