Job Overview A brand new 13 bedded Elective Trauma & Orthopaedic ward is opening in February 2025 An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Orthopaedic Directorate at Frimley Health Foundation Trust based at Frimley Park Hospital. We are looking to recruit Band 2 Ward Clerk to join our new Elective Orthopaedic Unit at Frimley. The Elective Orthopaedic Unit is a brand new 13 bedded ward in Frimley Park Hospital which will run service 7 days a week. All 13 bed spaces are isolated side rooms. It is fast paced department catering for patients having a range of orthopaedic surgical procedures. We are seeking to recruit a flexible, enthusiastic and organised person to provide Ward Clerking support to the FPH Orthopaedic department. As an integral member of Orthopaedic team, you will be required to provide administrative support to the nursing staff and provide a wide range of duties ensuring an efficient service to the ward at all times. The applicant will be expected to work well as part of a team, as well being able to multi-task, manage their own time, and prioritise workload effectively. Main duties of the job Provide a reception service across Orthopaedic wards ( as per rota) - handling initial enquiries, gathering basic information and taking initial action, within defined protocols, to assist in resolving any queries. Keep staff informed of admissions and discharges, and ensure queries from other members of staff and members of the public are dealt with appropriately, either in person or on the telephone. Answer calls in a polite manner, ensuring all relevant messages are relayed to the appropriate team Greet all visitors to the ward in a helpful and polite manner. Maintain accurate admission, transfer and discharge information on EPIC system. Assist to improve patient experience questionnaire compliance. Enter patient details as required into the EPIC system Ordering supplies, ensuring there is adequate resources and reporting faulty equipment as per trust policy. The role of a ward clerk requires good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work on own initiative.
