The Water and Waste business unit (WAW) is a true end-to-end business as part of Wärtsilä Portfolio Businesses. We have now a unique and exciting opportunity for a Development Engineer for the Water and Waste business, based in UK, Poole, Dorset.
As the Development Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the development and continuous improvement of Water & Waste’s product portfolio, from concept to in-service operation, based on customer and market needs.
What will you be doing?
1. Support the development and continuous improvement of Water & Waste’s product portfolio, from concept to in-service operation, based on customer and market needs.
2. Support the development and maintenance of the company’s product strategy and roadmap.
3. Review product feedback from the field and identify opportunities for product improvement to ensure continued quality, safety, profitability, and performance of the product portfolio.
4. Ensure New Product Introductions, Non-Standard Requirements, and Product Improvements are implemented according to the defined Product Development Process.
5. Generate and maintain product designs, drawings, calculations, test procedures, and supporting product portfolio documentation.
6. Ensure product developments are verified and support new product/feature installation, testing, and troubleshooting in the field.
7. Conduct exploratory research, competitor analysis, and assessments of potential new technologies.
8. Provide product support to Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Services organisations.
9. Investigate and resolve assigned product-related non-conformities and Health & Safety concerns (WeCare).
What we expect from you?
1. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent). Mechanical or process engineering discipline preferred.
2. Ability to manage projects through various stages from conceptualization to testing.
3. Problem-solving and creativity.
4. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with teams and stakeholders.
5. Experience in the water and waste industry would be beneficial.
