Summary of This Role Data Governance Analyst role is an exciting opportunity to bring about data driven transformation and drive execution of enterprise-wide, governance and management of data assets. As a Data Governance Analyst, responsibilities include enabling business & core functions via effective use of data while minimizing privacy, security, operational and reputational risks associated with data. The Data Governance Analyst will need to coordinate and collaborate with other stewardship roles (such as Data Custodian(s), Data Owner(s), and centralized data management office). As a member of a centralized, enterprise-wide program focusing on management of data assets, the Data Governance Analyst is responsible for operating day-to-day data governance working groups, providing operational support for the coordination and execution of data asset management standards and driving adoption of data asset management framework across the enterprise, with emphasis on UK&I and Europe. The Data Governance Analyst is also responsible for documenting, analyzing and optimizing data stewardship and governance processes and foundational practices(e.g. data lineage & metadata management, data quality, data issue and change management, etc) leverage data management tools as well as facilitating business and technical stakeholders in defining and owning data assets. They will also drive development and enrichment of data catalogs. The Data Governance Analyst is a visible role across the enterprise, with a specific focus on UK&I and Europe, engaging with business, technology and corporate functions to define & document enterprise metrics/terms; collect artifacts, streamline practices; research and curate documentation, and, implement process improvements What Part Will You Play? Work collaboratively as part of the Data Governance/asset management team to improve data documentation and drive continuous improvement of the data governance & management practices Lead and facilitate Data Governance working groups across various businesses/regions, with emphasis on UK&I and Europe and activities to achieve program goals and data requests Via enterprise wide working groups (Data Custodian(s), Data Owner(s), and centralized data management office), maintain business processes that are used to identify and collect metadata, information needed to support data governance, knowledge sharing, and data quality Ensure that the data asset management policies, standards and best practices are shared across the business unit and embedded in new development projects Be responsible for understanding end-to-end data lifecycle with data controls and identifying data dependencies in support of delivery, release, and change management Work with the business and technical teams to create data standards and principals to improve data management. This will include the creation of management and control processes to report on the effectiveness of the data management gates implemented within the business processes Manage data definition reviews and approvals for important data concepts and metrics Partner with core functions and business to create business process flows and data mapping Will become the subject matter expert of the business processes and the data generated and used by the processes. Part of the role will be to understand, and possibly create, data architecture diagrams as they align to business architecture - within a department, and across departments and external companies Support and collaborate with enterprise wide stakeholders to resolve data quality and data change management issues and monitoring data quality Serve as one of the key contacts for enterprise-wide Data Glossary system and ensure that metadata policies are followed and valuable to our compan y Provide leadership in identifying gaps in existing data governance processes and driving process optimization via working groups of key stakeholders across the enterprise Implement and advance acceptance/usage of data governance & management tools for metadata management, data lineage, business glossary, data issue management, etc. Ensure policies and data definitions are understood and broadly communicated across the enterprise Manage various aspects for data governance and management communication plan including periodic updates to program page on company portal, managing collateral for data governance training Participate in various review processes (that are part of other governing bodies/processes such as PMO, SDLC, etc.) to identify opportunities for the data governance & management program to intervene/coordinate data governance framework implementation Participate in company’s internal system alerts to manage project alert backlogs for the program Assist in coordination activities related to issue remediation, escalations, prioritizations, etc among business units and other data relevant functions (e.g. privacy, infosec, technology and analytics, internal audit, enterprise risk management) such that data life cycle management occurs in accordance with privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) and information security requirements What Are We Looking For in This Role? Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with 5-7 years of experience working in a complex technology driven business, and cross-functional environment, including but not limited to data governance, compliance, security, enterprise-wide data–centric functions/initiatives, process improvement 2 years of experience in payment industry preferred Experience with Metadata management and Data Quality improvement practices and techniques Working knowledge of Data Governance and Data Privacy principles Working knowledge of Design Thinking Techniques Knowledge of and/or ability to work with data governance and quality tools Experience with data management tools (Informatica, Collibra, etc.) preferred Relationship-building and the ability to work with a variety of different stakeholders with competing priorities Understands the business acumen and financials associated with a technology/software-driven business Proven ability to analyze performance, research, financial and competitive data to drive strategic and tactical recommendations Ability to make assessment and judgment calls quickly and accurately Ability to navigate at all levels in the organization and interact effectively and confidently with audiences of varying skill sets and authority Strong organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Good understanding of various data protection acts like GDPR, CCPA etc. Understanding of data-related pipeline solutions and practices such as data warehousing, data integration, MDM, ETL, analytics, and big data solutions preferred Ability to function in complex environments and clarify concepts to stakeholders Ability to understand the implications of data quality issues and explain the impact technology, organizational structure, and business process and practices have on data quality Leadership and communication skills to facilitate meetings/workshops to document processes and data that support data governance-related efforts Self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and able to influence and motivate without direct authority Excellent problem solving skills, Analytical approach to problem solving, Highly collaborative, constructive approach to driving results and resolving conflicts Preferred Qualifications Experience data cataloguing and data valuation techniques (infonomics).
