The Service: Portsmouth City Council is committed to delivering excellent museums and visitor services which celebrate the heritage of the city. Portsmouth Museums is responsible for six museums and heritage sites across the city, one of which is The D-Day Story. Your New Role: This role involves the successful coordination of volunteer activity for LCT 7074. The post holder will promote and maximise usage of the LCT by the public, facilitating both an excellent visitor and volunteer experience. You will be responsible for the delivery of the visitor experience, including the daily management of the visitor operation and any events or activities that take place on board LCT 7074. You will ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times as well as supporting with routine maintenance and other preservation tasks. You will support with ticket sales and event bookings as well as assisting management in the promotion of the LCT to maximise visitors throughout the year. What you will need to succeed: You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a knowledge and enthusiasm for museums and the wider cultural offer of the city. We are looking for someone who has extensive previous experience of co-ordinating a team of volunteers and managing small budgets, as well as experience of collecting and evaluating visitor satisfaction levels. In this role, you will need to have good organisational and IT skills as well as a good knowledge of health and safety procedures and experience of carrying out risk assessments. You are able to deliver fun and engaging events and activities, working on your own initiative and a commitment to collaborative working as part of a wider team.
