In this role, youll lead the Accounts Payable team, ensuring that all invoices, payments, and expense claims are processed accurately and efficiently. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance the efficiency of the accounts payable processes, providing actionable insights to drive continuous improvements, while maintaining compliance with company policies.
Youll work closely with internal teams to ensure that the accounts payable function supports business operations effectively, providing timely reports and ensuring that payments are up to date. Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Management & Process Optimisation:
Lead the team in the timely and accurate processing of invoices, credit notes, and expense claims, ensuring compliance with policies and authorisation matrix.
Oversee payment runs, ensuring they are performed in accordance with financial schedules.
Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
Team Leadership & Development:
Provide leadership to the Accounts Payable team, ensuring they are motivated, engaged, and aligned with business goals.
Offer guidance and training to new and existing team members on purchase order and expense-related procedures.
Coach and mentor team members to help them reach their full potential.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions in journals, ledgers, and other financial records.
Provide timely and accurate month-end accrual information and assist with year-end accounting processes.
Prepare and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to accounts payable.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
Work closely with the Finance team and other departments to ensure seamless operations and strong relationships with suppliers.
Resolve discrepancies and queries by liaising with suppliers and internal colleagues.
Support the Financial Operations Manager in driving performance and achieving team objectives.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
Ensure effective internal controls over accounts payable functions.
Provide supporting documentation for audits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Proven hands-on experience in managing an Accounts Payable function.
Extensive understanding in all aspects of accounts payable procedures.
Strong understanding of financial systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrable management experience, including team leadership and coaching.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Desirable:
Knowledge of accounting systems, particularly SAP.
AAT qualification or equivalent.
Experience in month-end and year-end financial reporting.
Strong analytical skills and ability to drive improvements through data analysis.
