Axcis Education is working with a primary school in IG3 that is seeking a full-time SEN Support Worker to provide 1:1 support for a KS2 boy with challenging behaviour and global developmental delay. This pupil requires a firm and structured approach from a confident and experienced professional who can provide consistency, clear boundaries, and emotional support.
About the Role:
This role is ideal for an experienced SEN professional who can support the child in managing their behaviour, engaging with learning, and developing essential social and emotional skills. The school is looking for someone patient yet assertive, with strong behaviour management strategies and the ability to build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 in-class and out-of-class support, ensuring the pupil stays engaged in learning.
2. Implement structured behaviour management strategies and support emotional regulation.
3. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to follow the pupil’s support plan.
4. Encourage social interactions and help the pupil develop communication and independence skills.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with children with challenging behaviour and SEN.
2. Strong understanding of behavioural strategies and de-escalation techniques.
3. A firm but nurturing approach, with the ability to set clear expectations.
4. A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate or willingness to obtain one.
