Through its Global Merchant Services (GMS) segment, American Express acquires service establishments of all different sizes and complexity that combine to drive AXP revenue and make our brand more powerful.
The GMS Controllership Senior Financial Analyst will support the GMS Segment Controllership Manager in providing business partners technical and operational accounting guidance on key deals and initiatives in line with GMSs strategic priorities.
The role involves collaborating with multiple stakeholders and provides excellent exposure to a diverse and talented team of controllership professionals that support a broad array of American Express businesses and services.
How you will make an impact in this role?
1. Assist in conducting research to provide accounting guidance on contractual financial terms in accordance with US GAAP and American Express accounting policies
2. Collaborate with multiple business partners during the new product development phase to assist in determining accounting implications and requirements
3. Partner with functional areas of Controllership and Finance to efficiently embed accounting processes
4. Conduct Post Implementation Reviews to assist in identifying opportunities to improve the financial control environment
5. Support transformational projects and other initiatives as required.
Minimum qualifications:
6. Fully / part qualified accountant, or equivalent experience.
7. Good understanding of US GAAP (desirable).
8. Ability to articulate accounting concepts to a variety of audiences.
9. Affinity for developing strong and collaborative relationships.
10. Ability to work independently from leader.
11. Awareness of systems and automation tools such as Machine Learning, AI, etc.
12. Knowledge of basic SQL scripting (desirable).
13. Excellent numeracy, written and verbal communication skills.
