A bit about the role As a Community Short Breaks Practitioner your role will involve managing a small team of Community Short Breaks Workers, providing critical leadership to ensure an effective, efficient service covering short breaks, groups and other support agencies in Rhondda. You’ll oversee the organising and supervising of activities with an aim to promote socialization, independence and personal development. You’ll collaborate with families and other professionals to tailor activities and support to the specific needs of each child or young person. About the service RCT Community Short Breaks allows children to enjoy a safe, meaningful experience and an opportunity has arisen for Community Short Breaks Practitioner to join our dedicated, friendly, warm and professional team. The service allows the families of the children and young people a much-needed break whilst providing the individuals we care for an engaging, safe, supportive and enriching environment. How you'll help to create brighter futures The aim of this role is to co-ordinate and direct the support of children, young people and families, by agreeing interventions, which enable positive and agreed outcomes to be achieved. You will help do this by: Leading a team to support children and young people with disabilities to reach their potential Building positive relationships with families, professional colleagues and within multi-agency networks Leading on team meetings and conducting 1 to 1 supervision Running a range of groups and activities to help children and young people grow Supporting those in our care to access a range of stimulating experiences Taking responsibility for day-to-day resource and rota planning and caseload management to ensure high quality services are delivered Let's talk about you Our job description for the Community Short Breaks Practitioner outlines the requirements of the role but the ‘must-haves' are: Diploma Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant area, plus willingness to work toward Playwork Level 3 if you don't already hold it (stipulated by CIW) Experience of working with children or young people who have disabilities or challenging needs Ability to lead staff teams to work flexibly in order to support families at critical times Proven track record of managing staff in the context of supporting and developing people Strong understanding of the issues and challenges facing families Good to know Application Process Please note we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
