We are looking for a proactive and visionary Policy and Government Relations Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will drive the firm’s mission forward by shaping public policy, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and inspiring grassroots movements. You will be at the forefront of monitoring legislative developments, engaging with policymakers, and spearheading advocacy campaigns that deliver meaningful and measurable change.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Government Relations and Policy Influence
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with legislators, regulators, and government officials to advance the firm’s policy objectives.
3. Monitor and analyse proposed laws, regulations, and policy developments that could impact the firm’s cases or clients.
4. Draft policy briefs, position papers, and consultation responses to articulate the firm’s stance on key issues.
5. Represent the firm at meetings, hearings, and events with policymakers and stakeholders.
6. Collaborate with the Directors of Corporate Affairs to develop and implement strategies for influencing policy at local, national, and international levels.
7. Advocacy and Campaign Management
8. Design and execute advocacy campaigns to mobilise public support for the firm’s cases and policy goals.
9. Develop campaign materials, such as petitions, email newsletters, and social media content, to engage and inspire action.
10. Work closely with the Media Relations and Content Manager to ensure campaigns are effectively communicated to target audiences.
11. Organise events, such as lobby days, webinars, and public forums, to amplify the firm’s advocacy efforts.
12. Grassroots Mobilisation and Stakeholder Engagement
13. Mobilise the firm’s 2 million clients and the wider public to take action in support of campaigns (e.g., signing petitions, contacting lawmakers).
14. Build and maintain relationships with NGOs, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to strengthen coalition efforts.
15. Provide training and resources to grassroots supporters to enhance their ability to advocate effectively.
16. Monitor and report on grassroots activities, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
17. Policy Research and Analysis
18. Conduct in-depth research on policy issues, legal frameworks, and regulatory trends relevant to the firm’s work.
19. Provide clear and actionable recommendations to inform the firm’s advocacy and policy strategies.
20. Stay informed about emerging issues and trends that could impact the firm’s clients or cases.
21. Internal Collaboration and Reporting
22. Collaborate with legal, communications, and corporate affairs teams to ensure alignment across all policy and advocacy activities.
23. Provide regular updates and reports to the Directors of Corporate Affairs on policy developments, campaign progress, and stakeholder engagement.
24. Support the development of long-term strategies to achieve the firm’s policy and advocacy goals.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Experience working on issues related to environmental law, consumer rights, or social justice.
2. Knowledge of digital tools and platforms for advocacy and grassroots organising.
3. Experience in public speaking or presenting to high-level stakeholders.
4. Familiarity with media relations and the ability to work collaboratively with communications teams.
