We are looking for an enthusiastic and patient Female Support Worker* to join our team supporting a sociable, happy young child with a learning disability and Cerebral palsy. Our client lives with her mum in the Canton area of Cardiff.
We are keen to recruit a support worker who will provide high quality support with social and leisure opportunities, spending quality time supporting our client with engagement in lots of different fun activities, including swimming, dancing, and gymnastics. Responsibilities will also include implementing therapies prescribed by the Multi-disciplinary Team; full training will be provided for this. Our team consists of an occupational therapist, speech and language therapist, physiotherapist, and paediatric neuropsychologist.
Our client enjoys socialising, playing in her therapy playroom, accessing her iPad and going for walks around the local area.
Applicants will be expected to have some experience of caring for people with physical and learning disabilities. An understanding of special educational needs, and cerebral palsy is desirable for this post.
Full driving licence and own car are essential.
You must be registered with OR working towards registration with Social Care Wales.
A recognised Health and Social Care qualification (Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent) is desirable.
Competent IT skills are desirable.

What you will be working:
20 hours per week to include:
Tuesday 4pm 8pm
Wednesday 4pm 8pm
Saturday Midday 4pm
4 additional hours to be worked flexibly to suit client and support worker.
Additional hours / flexibility will be required during school holidays.
Hourly Rate:
* £14.00 per hour weekdays
* £16.00 per hour weekends
* £0.45 per mile when using own car to transport client
What you will have:
Essential:
* An NVQ (or equivalent) in care and recent training would be an advantage.
* You will have some experience of caring for people with physical and/or learning disabilities.
* You will have a positive interest in active rehabilitation and a desire to enable this person to reach their full potential.
* You will be a driver with a full UK driving licence and have your own car.
* You are a person with great communication skills especially with the client, her family and other professionals involved.
* You will have a DBS on the update service or will complete an enhanced DBS if successful. Initial DBS check paid for by us.
Desirable:
* You will have experience of managing others and knowledge of organising staff rotas will be required.
* Current training in the following areas: Equality, diversity and inclusion, Health and safety at work, Control of substances hazardous to health, Fire safety awareness, Infection control, Food hygiene, Manual handling, First aid / basic life support including CPR, Safeguarding vulnerable adults, Safeguarding vulnerable children, Conflict management and Lone working.
