Healthcare Improvement Scotland is undertaking a detailed review of its regulatory functions – Independent Healthcare and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) – to ensure the organisation’s strategic approach, ways of working, policies and processes support effective, efficient and sustainable delivery of these regulatory duties.
As Interim Head of Regulation Review, the postholder will lead the review, with responsibilities including reviewing the strategic approach, developing ways of working, and engaging with a range of key internal and external stakeholders.
This is a fixed term secondment opportunity until 31 December 2025 when the review is due to conclude. With strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience in the application of Scottish regulation and legislation, the postholder will be responsible for planning and delivering all aspects of the review, ensuring that the review delivers on time.
A key requirement of this post is the ability to work in a complex, emergent environment, providing strategic direction to the review, to ensure that Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s strategic regulatory approach, role and focus for independent healthcare and IR(ME)R regulation is effective, proportionate and sustainable.
