As a vital member of the team you will be helping the system to understand the complete identity of the young person including their neurodivergence, mental health and developmental profile.
Main duties of the job
As Clinical Nurse Specialist you will provide key working, direct therapeutic support using evidence based interventions and systemic support for children and young people with complex neurodivergent needs and mental health needs.
The post holder will provide expert specialist nursing practice to children and young people under 18 years and will participate in the regular review of clinical policies and guidelines within this field and implement required changes to practice. The post holder will ensure the delivery of effective evidence based clinical practice and will undertake a lead professional role for a complex case load of young people.
Job responsibilities
To undertake this role you will:
* Be confident and able to work with a high degree of independence
* Have a proven track record of working innovatively in a healthcare setting, mental health service or setting working with children and young people.
* Hold a professional qualification / registration related to the role
* Be able to travel independently and work flexibly across the county to support the service, from a designated base. The balance of working from the base and home working (known as hybrid working or blended working) is determined by the needs of the service.
Person Specification
Knowledge
* Understanding and experience of working with children and young people with Neurodevelopmental conditions (i.e., ASD and ADHD)
* Knowledge of child development and ability to consider this alongside neurodevelopmental need
* Knowledge of report writing
Experience
* Experience of working in a Mental Health or learning disability service.
* Experience of neurodevelopmental assessment and management of self-harm/risk/crisis management/safeguarding.
* Experience as a Band 6 Nurse
Qualifications
* Registered RMN, Registered General Nurse adult/ child, Learning Disability Nurse, OT, Social Worker or Psychological Therapist with experience of post-graduate experience in Neurodevelopmental need.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
