We have a great opportunity for a Production Operative to join us at British Gypsum, based in Robertsbridge.
You will work safely as part of a small team or as an individual to satisfy customer requirements in both terms of on-time delivery and quality. The plasterboard plant at Robertsbridge is an area that manufactures plasterboard from raw materials.
Working on semi-automated production lines with a high level of autonomy, you will be expected to maintain World Class Performance working either as an individual or as part of a small but high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Championing Health and Safety best practice and identifying, reporting, and rectifying hazards.
2. Working a rotating shift pattern of day shifts 7.00am – 7.00pm and night shifts 7.00pm – 7.00am.
3. Working autonomously, taking responsibility for a piece of machinery for your shift, following Standard Operating Procedures, carrying out autonomous maintenance, and general housekeeping.
4. Running regular quality checks throughout the production process.
What Kind of Person Are We Looking For?

1. Have experience in continuous manufacturing or a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
2. Be comfortable operating a forklift truck, handling up to 2 tonnes of product in a sizeable bulk and stowing carefully to standard for transport to our customers.
3. Have well-developed communication skills, displaying these while on the production line, during hand-overs, and with the internal communication system (SCADA).
4. Demonstrate mastering a position for a decent length of time with evidence of improvements made for Safety, Quality, Business Performance, and Ease of Operation.
5. Preferably come from a Lean environment and have experience or exposure to 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, World Class Management (WCM), etc.
