OXBO are delighted to be working with a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) focused on the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects, including solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
The Role
The Junior Town Planner will support the planning and permitting processes for solar and BESS projects, helping to navigate local planning regulations, environmental policies, and community engagement. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative renewable energy projects that contribute to sustainability goals.
* Assist in the preparation and submission of planning applications and permits for solar and BESS projects.
* Conduct site assessments to evaluate planning constraints, land use, and environmental considerations.
* Collaborate with senior planners to analyse local, regional, and national planning policies and regulations relevant to renewable energy developments.
* Assist in preparing technical reports and planning documents for project submissions and public consultations.
* Support the coordination of stakeholder engagement activities, including liaising with local councils, environmental agencies, and community groups.
* Help to manage and track the progress of planning applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory timelines and standards.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning laws, policies, and emerging trends in renewable energy.
* Prepare maps, data visualisations, and other planning tools using relevant software.
* Contribute to internal planning meetings and project teams to ensure that all aspects of the development process are well-coordinated.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field.
* 0-2 years of experience in town planning or a related field (preferably with exposure to renewable energy projects).
* Strong understanding of planning regulations, policies, and processes.
* Knowledge of local planning systems and frameworks, including environmental impact assessments.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to interpret technical data, maps, and site plans.
* Proficiency in planning software (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, or similar).
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
