The Business Systems Manager is responsible for managing and delivering a suite of business systems to support key areas that include Finance, Payroll, HR, Academic Registry, and work placement.
The role will manage the Systems Management team to support, maintain and develop the core business-critical systems portfolio. Be part of the DTS management team contributing to the design and development of the University’s IT and Digital strategic plans.
The role will manage and support key systems as part of the Nexus programme. Lead on the monitoring, reporting and resolution of issues, motivating the team to deliver optimal solutions and outcomes. While providing project management and support for the implementation of new business systems, liaising with business/stakeholder owners, partners, suppliers, and sector-based user groups.

Job Purpose:
To manage the Systems Management team to support, maintain and develop the core business-critical systems portfolio. To work in partnership with system and stakeholder owners to ensure the management and maintenance of systems aligns with business needs and priorities. To manage and support key systems as part of the Nexus programme. To lead on the monitoring, reporting, and resolution of issues, motivating the team to deliver optimal solutions and outcomes. To project manage and support the implementation of new business systems, liaising with business/stakeholder owners, partners, suppliers, and sector-based user groups. Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the Systems Management team to enhance the delivery of systems projects and business processes.
* Contribute to the design and development of the University’s IT and Digital strategic plans as part of the DTS management team.
* Provide project management to deliver IT solutions that support the growth of the University and meet overall Digital strategies.
* Offer third-line business systems analyst support to emerging business requirements, delivering solutions to complex technical issues.
* Develop excellent working relationships with all service leads and systems owners.
* Oversee and carry out analysis to assess existing or new software, systems, and hardware to fit business needs.
* Manage business process improvements, requirements, solution design, and consultation based on analysis work.
* Plan updates, upgrades, general maintenance, and development of critical business systems in user group meetings.
* Plan, develop, and oversee the release of upgrades and enhancements to systems.
* Stay up to date with the latest technologies, evaluating new technologies and tools, and making recommendations for their implementation.
* Provide quality assurance for workflow improvement, application configuration, and system development.
* Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, Health and Safety, UKVI, Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
* Perform other duties as required.
