The procurement function acts as a centre of excellence for all Procurement & Supply Chain activities across the new group. It manages the provision of goods and services to all departments (clinical and non-clinical) on a daily basis, contracting for the provision with several thousand suppliers. The service performs a strategic business management role, managing £420m of non-pay expenditure in support of its stakeholders across the group.
Main duties of the job
To lead the Trust's procurement function to ensure the provision of an effective and efficient supply of goods and services.
Be recognised as the professional procurement lead for the Trust, especially on high profile and high risk procurements. To lead on negotiations of complex, high value contracts for the procurement of capital and consumable items.
You will play a key role in the development of the ICS Procurement Strategy, facilitating collaboration across partners, and supporting alignment of resources and services to drive financial benefits.
Represent the Trust at a national and regional level and influence the NHS procurement landscape to deliver best outcomes for the Mid and South Essex hospitals.
You will have responsibility for the leadership and development of staff within the purchasing team, and ensuring the provision of a highly effective and responsive procurement function.

Person Specification
Application
* Educated to Master degree level in Procurement related profession, including logistics/supply chain or equivalent experience.
* Experience in producing and understanding business plans.
* Ability to identify development opportunities for co-workers.
* Member of the institute of logistics.
Supply Chain
* Experience of logistics, inventory control and supply chain management.

Salary: £88,168 a year (Pro Rata for Part Time)
