Senior Pharmacist - Anaesthesia, Perioperative, Pain Medicine and ICCU
We are looking for an experienced Critical Care Pharmacist.
We are seeking a self-motivated, passionate and resilient clinical pharmacist to join our team of critical care pharmacists and technicians.
We welcome applicants with previous critical care experience at band 8a or 7 level.
In 2022 we expanded our team to provide a 7-day clinical service to the Integrated Critical Care Unit (ICCU). This has been extremely well received by the multidisciplinary team and has made a significant impact on patient care.
An independent prescribing qualification is desirable but there is the opportunity and support to undertake the course if not already completed.

Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job include:
1. Providing clinical and directorate support to the Anaesthesia, Perioperative, Pain Medicine and ICCU Group.
2. Participating in the 7-day clinical pharmacy service to the critical care unit.
3. Liaising with pharmacists working in other medical and surgical specialties to ensure seamless care of those patients transferring between different levels of care.
4. Providing a pharmacy service to the operating theatres and anaesthetic department.
5. Contributing to service improvement projects, governance, financial reporting, and guideline development.
6. Education and training of junior pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students on the management of critical care patients.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
* Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent) and registration with GPhC
* Completed Year 1 of postgraduate Clinical Diploma or equivalent qualification
* Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in a broad range of medical and surgical specialties relevant to post
* Experience of working as part of the Pharmacy Team within the Critical Care speciality
* Experience in supervising, training and assessing staff
* Completed postgraduate Clinical Diploma or equivalent qualification
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to manage own time effectively and prioritise appropriately
* Ability to adapt behaviour to changing circumstances and work under pressure
* Ability to work both on own initiative and also to co-operate within a team to achieve desired outcomes
* Experience of implementing or delivering the objectives of cost/service improvement programmes
* Ability to demonstrate specialist knowledge of pharmacy in the context of Critical Care.
* Experience of undertaking audits and participating in clinical research
