Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen with a high-end precision CNC manufacturing company in Hertfordshire. This business supports leading-edge sectors including Aerospace, Defence, Motorsport, and Robotics, and operates from a modern, high-spec facility equipped with the latest in CNC technology.
We are looking for a Goods In / Goods Out Inspection Lead with strong quality control, team leadership, and inspection experience to manage the flow of materials and finished components through the inspection department. This person will be a key part of production and quality operations, liaising across teams to ensure smooth delivery and dispatch of high-quality parts.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Proven experience in a quality inspection or quality control role within manufacturing/engineering.
* Leadership capability – able to manage, motivate, and develop a small team.
* Strong understanding of technical drawings and CAD models.
* Proficient in inspection tools and techniques, including CMM.
* Effective communicator across multiple departments.
* Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure.
* Previous exposure to FAIR processes, goods-in/goods-out control, and supplier/customer liaison.
Key Responsibilities:
* Inspect and verify raw materials and subcontracted goods against purchase orders and customer specs.
* Prioritise incoming materials and coordinate with production for efficient workshop allocation.
* Review parts for cleanliness, defect-free condition (FOD), dimensional accuracy, and readiness for dispatch.
* Support subcontract planning with accurate inspection timelines and documentation readiness (FAIRs, etc.).
* Lead and support the inspection team in partnership with the Quality Inspector.
* Collaborate with Production Coordinator and Workshop Manager to align schedules and workflow.
* Maintain high standards in documentation, inspection logs, and communication with senior management.
* Carry out sample and patrol inspections, using both CMM and manual inspection tools.
* Contribute to quality improvement initiatives across the business.
* Develop and up-skill the inspection team while promoting a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.
