Overview
To participate in the delivery of Care courses across THSTS Care Staff using various methods of delivery styles. You will be responsible for ensuring all employees are trained in line with legislation, contractual agreements, Policy and Procedure and individual needs, as well as working closely with the Human Resources and Registered Manager.
As the trainer, you should be able to work independently on a pro rata basis and within a team, using your own initiative to deliver training and developing bespoke training packages in line with the needs of the service and our customers.
Responsibilities of the role:
1. Support the Learning and Development Team by researching and keeping up to date, working as a member of the team in developing and fulfilling training strategies for the company to support its service objectives.
2. Participate in staff development, planning and delivery of induction programmes in all supported living units, care homes, and in the community.
3. Organise mandatory, specialism training including Specialist Behavioural Support Service for our challenging service users, new development and inductions programmes throughout the company in various locations, utilising different methods of delivery to ensure the appropriate level of training to meet the company objectives.
4. Liaise with small, medium enterprises and the council to ensure existing content is kept up to date with current legislation, standards and company policy and procedures.
5. Actively participate and monitor in the delivery of training provision and development opportunities for all staff across the company, ensuring the most effective use of resources and appropriateness of delivery.
6. Liaise with Senior Management ensuring training programmes are in place, available corporately and locally to meet individual and service need requirements that are reviewed in line with current practice and trends.
7. Maintain accurate course attendance (training Matrix) and training records using the Access system and staff files for THSTS.
8. Evaluate effectiveness of learning materials and update these accordingly.
9. Contribute to all aspects of training and assessment throughout the organisation to ensure a fully qualified workforce, compliant with the National Minimum Standards, Regulatory Requirements and Policy & Procedure.
10. Provide operations with advice, support and guidance regarding training and assist with the development of new services and newly recruited staff throughout THSTS. Support the Learning and Development Team with the development of innovative, flexible and appropriate initiatives to meet the company’s training needs.
11. Spot check staff to ensure what is learnt is what is being practised and to have documentary evidence for this task.
12. Monitor staff recording on Access and ensure the reporting style and contents are meeting the legislation and guidelines in place. Feedback concerns and assess training for this task, and feedback to management team for further actions.
Essential:
* Education including English and Maths to GCSE
* Level 3 Award in Education & Training, PTLLS, Cert Ed, or LEVEL 3 in care and undergoing a PTLLS Cert or equivalent
* 1 year’s experience in a training role
* Developed and delivered training for employees at various levels
* Evaluation, assessment, and monitoring of training different training and assessment methods (including remote, classroom and units delivery)
* Knowledge of learning disabilities, autism, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and mental health
* Good working knowledge of regulatory requirements, legislation, policies, procedures and Care industry processes
Desirable:
* Relevant Health and Social Care qualification / current knowledge
* Relevant management/professional qualification
* Training requirements associated with the Care Standards/Act
* National Minimum Standards
* Providing care for vulnerable people in a variety of living situations.
