Junior Cable Systems Design Engineer - HV Cables
* Location: London (Hybrid)
* Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

Would you like to be involved in exciting work ranging from 132kV to 525kV, across both AC and DC systems?
Turner Lovell is currently looking for a Junior Cable Systems Design Engineer to join a leading cable manufacturer at their European Head Office. This well-established global company is growing fast in Europe and is expanding its team to support some of the region's most important energy projects.
In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of offshore wind, interconnector, and long-distance onshore transmission projects. This is a great opportunity to learn from the best and build a strong foundation in the energy sector.
Key responsibilities:
* Support in reviewing and interpreting client requirements, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of project needs.
* Preparing cable system designs and ensuring they follow current industry standards and safety guidelines.
* Assist in creating designs for HVAC and HVDC cable systems during tenders and project execution.
* Conduct calculations for cable sizing and selection.
* Design cable routes for direct buried, ducted, and tunnel systems.
* Support with calculations of thermos mechanical and short circuit forces along entire cable routes.
* Preparing diagrams and documentation for sheath bonding and earthing systems.
Ideal background:
* Up to 3 years' experience in high voltage cable engineering, particularly in the 132kV to 525kV range.
* Up to 3 years' experience in cable design specifications.
* Proficient with design tools/software (e.g. CYMCAP, Finite Element Analysis, AutoCAD 2D, Revit, and similar).
* Knowledge of CDM regulations and the implications on safety, constructability, and sustainability for UK projects.
* Able to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment.
