Summary: The Operations Technician is responsible on a day-to-day basis for operating the treatment processes associated with the WTP (Water Treatment Plant) on a client site in Rickmansworth. As well as daily operational routines and laboratory analysis, the Operations Technician will be expected to carry out basic front line planned maintenance tasks as part of their role. The WTP is operated on a 7 day per week basis, with a shift rota including 1 week in 2 weekend cover, and 1 week in 3 out of hours on-call. The key objectives of the role are; Operate the water treatment plants and associated equipment to ensure that water quality and quantity produced is within the specifications required by the customer. Monitor the performance of the assets and respond with actions to ensure that the assets perform at an optimum level at all times. Communicate with other members of the NSI and Customer teams to ensure that there is a good level of understanding regarding plant performance, activities to be carried out and any impacts on site wide operations. Carry out daily wet chemistry analysis and reporting. Duties and Responsibilities: Work within the client and NSI HSE systems. Visible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI. Carry out duties in a safe manner to ensure that there is a minimum risk of harm to people or the environment. Carry out isolations and deisolation’s etc., as required to allow others to carry out work on the assets. Carry out basic front line maintenance as required (e.g. instrument calibrations). Safe delivery of bulk chemicals to storage tanks. Raise work orders for plant maintenance. Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and NSI. Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, NSI employees and sub-contractor staff. Proactively manage external relationships with the client and sub-contractors. Innovate in the workplace to bring improvement and opportunity. Identity faults, evaluate rectification measures and to make initial recommendations, to carry out basic repairs. Issue permits to work for NSI maintenance and subcontractor engineers (training provided). Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site. Carry out daily laboratory water analysis and promptly report any deviations to Site Management and Technical Team. Utilising plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems and evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition. Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices. To work unsupervised with a proactive attitude. Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other NSI staff. Undergo training as required and identify training needs. Receive deliveries and maintain site stock. Share knowledge / experience with colleagues and others. Effectively communicate with other third party contractors. Carry out basic preventative maintenance activities. Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential): Training in Environmental Health and Safety Committed team player Attention to detail with a positive attitude to work Basic computer literacy A strong commitment to upholding safe working practices Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable): Knowledge of Water Treatment Plants, UF, RO, Ion Exchange process or any other production/process related plants Operations To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience, the capacity to interpret technical information from drawing, P&IDs, data sheets etc Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system NVQ in relevant discipline Ability and knowledge to complete basic repairs and maintenance on (electro)mechanical assets Working for us means: The salary is between £26,000 & £32,000 per year, depending on your professional experience London Weighting Monthly Allowance - 15% of basic salary, with a minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 Bonus up to 5% Shift Allowance - 10% of basic salary Overtime – 1.5 Hours of Work – 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday. Standby Requirements – expected to work 1 in 3 which will require weekend working when the rostered standby person. Rate is £25.00 per day. Holidays – 22 days 8 statutory Probationary Period – 6 months. Pension – Can join immediately or auto enrolled after 3 months - Employee 4.5% and Employer 4.5% via salary sacrifice.
