Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable Wyatt who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to his wishes and interests.
About the employer:
Wyatt is a 12-year-old boy who loves gaming and Pokémon but also likes to be outside trying to learn to ride his bike. He loves animals of all kinds and enjoys spending time with his little 6-year-old sister, who also has disabilities. Wyatt loves to go swimming, bowling, cinema, and seek and find trails.
Wyatt has a genetic form of epilepsy (KNTC1) which can occur day or night, especially under stress. He has focal and tonic seizures, struggles to walk long distances, and may need breaks and his inhaler as he also has asthma. Due to Wyatt’s seizures from a young age, he has learning disabilities and lacks awareness of danger, which is also part of his ADHD. Wyatt can get very angry and frustrated quickly and may need help with his breathing techniques.
Main duties:
Social duties:
Support with socializing with new groups of people, hobbies such as dog walking, swimming, bike riding, and attending the cinema or bowling.
Personal care:
Support with bathing, showering, teeth cleaning, dressing, and performing exercises/physiotherapy.
Domestic duties:
Teaching and supporting with grocery shopping, cooking and serving nutritious meals and snacks, cleaning, changing bedding, laundry, and ironing. These duties may vary from day to day.

Values such as honesty, reliability, punctuality, non-judgmental attitude, ability to build good relationships based on trust and respect, flexibility, adaptability, and a good sense of humor.
Specific requirements:
An understanding of epilepsy and ADHD, and fully medically trained for epilepsy rescue medicines.
Hours of work:
6 hours per week during term time and 12 hours during school holidays. Flexible hours to be mutually agreed but would include weekends.
Rate of pay:
£12.40 per hour.
Skills and qualifications:
Essential:
Ability to swim, medical knowledge of epilepsy, confidentiality, good at building relationships, and being happy and enthusiastic.
Preferred:
Computer literate (e.g., PlayStation, Nintendo Switch), good communicator, likes dogs or other pets, good listener, and ability to support people with challenging behaviors.
Driving:
Driving license and car insurance are not essential as Wyatt has a bus pass.
