Dexter Construction Company is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently looking for Construction Labourers to join our Demolition division out of Bedford, NS for the 2025 season. These positions will be based out of HRM, but may involve travel to other parts of the province as the need arises.
Primary Duties:
1. Load, unload and move construction materials around the worksite
2. May be responsible for digging, spreading, and levelling of dirt and gravel
3. Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
4. Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas
5. Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labour
6. Be always aware of surroundings
7. Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
8. Protect and promote the interest of this company in all matters and to take actions as required to satisfy such responsibilities
9. Ensure safety of fellow employees
10. Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:
1. Ability to follow a firm work schedule as directed by supervisor
2. Fall Arrest Certification considered an asset
3. Must be well versed in construction site protocols, rules and code of conduct
4. Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks requiring the use of independent judgment and action
5. Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
6. Comply with all safety policies and procedures
7. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly
8. Working safely is a condition of employment
Working Conditions: This position will be lifting, pulling, and managing medium heavy (up to 55lbs) equipment and objects, requiring the use of PPE, Hardhat, and Steel Toe Boots to minimize the risk on the worksite.
