The Role
As a Mechanical Technician, the primary requirement of the role is the provision of mechanical engineering relating to the manufacture and maintenance of items in support of the Pendine Range.
You will be expected to be an integral part of a team, providing mechanical support to the Range therefore, fabrication, machining, general mechanical engineering and problem solving skills are an essential requirement, as is the ability to communicate effectively.
Day-to-day, you’ll assist in the production/maintenance of Mechanical targets, equipment and components. The tasks range from: machining, fabrication (Welding), mechanical engineering (working on mechanical items) being able to operate the mechanical workshop equipment necessary to perform the tasks safely.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Ensure that the manufacture and maintenance of the Range equipment is carried out in line with the works schedule
* Interpret and work from engineering drawings
* Operation of the mechanical workshops equipment
Essential experience of the Mechanical Technician:
* Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
* B/TEC ONC in Mechanical Engineering
* Full Driving Licence
Essential qualifications for the Mechanical Technician:

This role is 37 Hours per week based at Pendine.
The QinetiQ Pendine facility, located on the coast of South Wales, is renowned for its extensive capabilities in testing and evaluating defence systems, particularly in the fields of weapons and vehicle performance. Pendine plays a critical role in the UK’s defence landscape providing essential services that contribute to the development and assurance of military hardware.
