JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Product Management oversees a larger or more critical segment of the product portfolio, often spanning multiple business units or product divisions. They manage several Directors of Product Management and their teams, making a more substantial impact on the entire product organization. Additionally, this role is responsible for shaping long-term product strategy and making significant strategic decisions that influence the overall direction of the company’s product offerings.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage multiple directors and product teams, taking a more high-level view of organizational performance. Focused on leadership development, scaling teams, and organizational structure across multiple product management groups.
2. Oversee a larger, more critical segment of the product portfolio, often spanning multiple business units or product divisions.
3. Set goals in line with the business strategy and customer expectations; assist with resourcing to coordinate work activities and task completion.
4. Involved in the development and refinement of company-wide product strategies.
5. Play a critical role in shaping the future product vision, working closely with executive leadership (VP of Product Strategy).
6. Involved in influencing cross-functional strategies across marketing, engineering, sales, and even external stakeholders like customers or investors.
7. Responsible for the overall financial performance of product divisions, including P&L (profit and loss) management for larger segments.
8. Involved in high-level budgeting, long-term resource planning, and ensuring that business outcomes align with corporate financial goals.
9. Oversee collaboration with the engineers to draft requirements, statements of work, budget estimates, scope definitions, timelines, and supplier line-ups.
10. Build and develop relationships with internal and external partners.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Degree (BS/BA) in Information Systems, Management, Statistics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering, or related field required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
2. Experience leading a high performing team and working across multiple stakeholders to deliver results while educating and growing team members. Global experience is preferred.
3. Proven experience in driving product strategy for multiple products or a portfolio, with responsibility for P&L, roadmap development, and cross-functional alignment.
4. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor multiple layers of teams (including product managers, directors, and cross-functional teams).
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence senior leadership and work effectively with C-level executives and board members on strategic initiatives.
6. Experience in long-term product planning, including setting roadmaps, prioritizing features, and managing risks.
7. Strong understanding of IT systems, software development processes, and enterprise technology platforms.
8. A deep understanding of the Contract Research Organization industry.
9. Technical knowledge related to the product space, including software development methodologies (e.g., Agile).
10. Proven track record of driving innovation in product development, introducing new features, and adapting products to meet evolving market demands.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $145,170.00 to $258,101. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.

Years of experience required : Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of product management experience, and five to seven (5-7) years of leadership experience, preferably managing other product managers or directors in a large organization.
Physical Requirements : Position requires: ability to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office equipment, etc. and to move between office locations; ability to maintain a stationary position for prolonged periods of time; ability to occasionally manipulate (e.g., lift, carry, move) office items and packages of light to medium weights of 10-35 pounds; ability to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment (e.g., scanner, phone, printer, copier); ability to perceive and assess written materials for prolonged periods of time; and ability to frequently communicate with colleagues on the phone, by email, and in-person.
Work Environment : This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is low. This is a largely sedentary role.
