Purpose of the Job
This is an exciting opportunity to join Smartroof during the launch of an innovative new roofing system (SmartPUC). As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth by developing and managing relationships with national house builders, regional house builders, and housing associations. You will be responsible for generating new business, managing existing accounts, and promoting the unique benefits of the SmartPUC. This role requires a highly motivated and results-oriented individual with strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as a deep understanding of the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
* Identify and target potential clients, including national house builders, regional house builders, and housing associations. Proactively pursue new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, site visits, and industry events.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within target organisations, including contract managers, project managers, and technical directors.
* Conduct compelling sales presentations and develop tailored proposals that clearly articulate the value proposition of SmartPUC.
* Develop a strong understanding of SmartPUC, its technical specifications, installation process, and benefits compared to traditional roofing methods. Be able to address technical questions and concerns from clients.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving building regulations, including the Future Homes Standard.
* Research and analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new opportunities and inform sales strategies.
* Contribute to sales forecasting and budgeting processes for the assigned territory.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities, customer interactions, and leads within the CRM system.
* Work closely with the Key Account Manager and other internal teams (e.g., technical, marketing) to ensure seamless customer service and support.
* Represent Smartroof at industry events, conferences, and exhibitions to generate leads and build brand awareness.
* Regularly report on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities to the Key Account Manager.
* As the company expands and due to ongoing changes in market conditions and the business environment, it is a requirement of the position to undertake any other reasonable task related to the position you hold.
Skills & Experience:
* Proven track record of success in business development or sales, preferably within the construction or building materials industry.
* Strong understanding of the house building process and the needs of national and regional house builders and housing associations.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
* Strong negotiation and closing skills.
* Technical aptitude and the ability to understand and explain complex technical information.
* Proficiency in using CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* A passion for achieving results and exceeding targets.
* Full UK driving license.
