Job Title: Technical Manager Location: East Yorkshire Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience) Sector: Chilled Food Manufacturing Overview: A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and proactive Technical Manager to join a successful chilled food manufacturer based in East Yorkshire. This is an excellent role for an experienced Technical Manager or a strong Assistant Technical Manager ready to take the next step in their career. Key Responsibilities: Lead the site’s technical and quality agenda, ensuring full compliance with food safety, legality, and quality standards. Manage the Quality Assurance and Technical team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Oversee internal and external audits, including BRC, customer, and regulatory inspections. Maintain and develop food safety systems (HACCP, TACCP, VACCP), ensuring documentation is always audit-ready. Liaise with key customers on technical matters, including specifications, complaints, and product launches. Ensure supplier approval processes and raw material specifications are maintained and reviewed regularly. Work closely with NPD and Production teams to support product trials, launches, and ongoing quality improvements. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A strong technical background within the food manufacturing sector, ideally chilled or short shelf-life products. Previous experience as a Technical Manager, or a solid foundation as an Assistant Technical Manager looking to step up. Good understanding of BRCGS, HACCP, and UK retailer standards. Confident in customer interaction and building strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders. Excellent leadership and organisational skills, with a hands-on approach and attention to detail. Qualifications: A relevant food science or technical qualification is desirable but not essential with sufficient industry experience. HACCP Level 3 (minimum), Food Safety Level 3
