A unique and exciting opportunity has become available for a Risk Director within the Enterprise Risk Management function to join the Cabot Group. This role would suit an experienced Risk Director, Head of Risk, Risk Financial Controller or Director of Internal Audit. This second line leadership role is responsible for the strategic direction of the Enterprise Risk Management function for the Cabot Credit Management Group (CCMG) whilst supporting the UK Chief Risk and Compliance Officer (CRCO) with their senior management and regulatory responsibilities. This role holder will be a Certified Individual. The location for this role is flexible, to include Cabot’s main UK centres - London, Kings Hill, Hull and Glasgow, whilst also allowing hybrid working. Competitive salary based on experience. Maintain a sound overall risk framework ensuring regulatory compliance and driving business value. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure the Risk Framework of Encore is embedded and operating effectively across the Cabot Group. Continuously develop, enhance, and embed the framework for managing risks across the Group, working closely with Encore and ensuring that processes are fit for purpose. Lead the second line Risk team in the CCMG and Wescot to ensure delivery of: Effective Risk management, identification, assessment, and mitigation Robust Risk Event management Appropriate Risk Reporting An effective Risk Controls Testing framework and plan Define and own Risk Policies and Procedures ensuring they are up to date and reflect changing regulation and monitor effectiveness of policies and actions taken. Shape the risk appetites of the Business Units and lead the framework(s) through which the risks are measured, monitored, and reported upwards. Influence, advise & support definition of the Risk strategies for the Business Units pertinent to their distinct activities and operating models. Governance and reporting Support and assist the CRCO in preparation of materials for ExCo and the Risk and Compliance Committee meetings with responsibility for second line Risk oversight related to the group’s businesses. Assess delivery across both Business Units and identification/escalation of risk areas for the group proportionate to the impact, including overseeing and escalating high risk events pertinent to the group risk exposure. Develop, manage, and refine qualitative and quantitative risk reporting which meets the needs of the Board, in order to support effective decision making. Senior stakeholder management Work closely with the Chair of Risk and Compliance Committees, board directors, other executive and non-executive committee members, senior compliance & risk managers across the Encore and Cabot Group and representatives of the shareholder moulding a high-achieving, well-controlled organisation which can achieve growth targets safely. Lead the function in providing key clients and other external stakeholders with assurance over the design and effectiveness of the risk framework across the group. Embed a positive culture of confident and informed risk-taking through training, communication, and promotion of the agreed risk framework. Financial and budgets Support the CRCO with the design, oversight, and maintenance of the department’s budget. We are looking for someone with: Formal Education & Certification Degree level educated and / or relevant professional qualification preferable. Significant experience of working in a professional environment, primarily financial services Knowledge & Experience Internal control focus experience in one or more of the following areas: enterprise-wide risk management, operational risk management, external or internal audit Financial and modelling risk management exposure Team leadership – bringing passion, energy, and drive to the team. Understanding of UK regulatory environment Able to balance commercial focus with regulatory obligations. What happens next?
