A leading Law firm is looking for an experienced Private client Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join their fast paced and friendly team in Worthing. The role will involve - To assist fee-earners in the management of caseload by actioning legal procedures as directed by them. Including (but not limited to) the areas of: Wills and Trusts, Estates, Estate Administration, Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection. To assist fee-earners in the management of a caseload by dealing with file related queries, face to face or by telephone. To process matters in a timely and cost-effective manner. To support fee-earners in the maintenance of files by effective file management. To ensure that clients are dealt with efficiently and politely and that appropriate legal matters are raised with the fee-earner. To attend to clients, taking instructions and making enquiries as necessary. To follow correctly all procedures and systems in order to manage cases effectively and in accordance with the firm’s standards and legal requirements. Including efficient use of the case management system. To form part of a centralised process for handling requests for files and documents by clients or to other solicitors. To improve and enhance the firm’s client base by effective liaison with existing clients. To help maximise the firm’s potential to cross – sell services by identifying appropriate opportunities (with guidance.) To manage own work allocation, productivity and quality of work with supervision. To comply with all private client and firm policies and procedures. To ensure our clients and introducers of business receive the best possible service at all times To provide holiday/absence cover for other support staff in the department where appropriate. To provide cover for Reception/ office administration where appropriate. Any other reasonable duties, which your line manager may request for time to time. Key Responsibilities Help with the processing of cases and files To help develop department precedents To follow firm and department policies Complying with SRA professional conduct rules and Law Society guidance for private client work Do only work with the scope set by the department and within your own capabilities General Responsible for self-development and compliance with relevant training requirements in the area of Private Client as well as wider core skills Conduct self-appraisal and development planning Complete time recording (as appropriate) Follow administrative systems and procedures To ensure confidentiality and security of firm’s and client’s documentation and information Shared general administrative duties including photocopying, scanning, filing, door answering and letter writing, opening and sorting incoming post, franking external post and assisting reception as required.
