We are currently looking to hire for a Senior Bridge Engineer as a result of rapid growth in our Exeter, London, Luton, and Bishop's Stortford teams.
About the Role
We are recruiting Senior Engineers in our Bridges and Civil Structures teams in London, Bishops Stortford, Luton, and Exeter offices. The role is to support our growing workload on challenging and exciting bridge projects working for a variety of clients and partners such as architects, contractors, private developers, highway, and rail authorities. Current projects comprise feasibility studies, design, inspection, assessment, and bridge management.
Whichever office you are based in, you will be part of a well-supported close-knit team with direct contact to the cohort of bridge engineers within the UK. As an experienced engineer, you will use your skills to coach, mentor, and support the more junior members of the team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage and take responsibility for the quality and design delivery of various bridges and structures from feasibility, concept through to detailed design and site support.
2. Adopt a holistic approach to problem-solving, providing pragmatic solutions to industry best practices and current design codes and standards such as Eurocodes and DMRB.
3. Assist in developing cost-effective, sustainable solutions with consideration to climate change and biodiversity.
4. Manage the inspection, assessment, and design of bridges and civil structures in both rail and road environments.
5. Undertake structural analysis for a wide variety of bridges, using appropriate software where necessary. Design and assess in steel and reinforced concrete.
6. Communicate effectively in writing, drawing, and verbally to technical and non-technical audiences. Discuss ideas and concepts with confidence and in a professional manner.
7. Provide assistance in innovation and continuous improvement within the team and on projects.
8. Assist in business development and work winning opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Chartered or Near Chartered Engineer with either the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution of Structural Engineers.
2. Relevant Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
3. Experience of using relevant standards and codes of practice: Eurocodes, British Standards, DMRB’s.
4. Experience in some or all of the following: Inspection, Assessments, Maintenance, Design of bridges and civil structures.
5. Strong technical skills in delivering high-quality output to programme and budgets.
6. Aptitude to develop and mentor less experienced engineers. Support professional development as a Delegated Engineer.
