The vacancy
Moore Barlow is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Court of Protection team in Southampton (Chandlers Ford). Our Southampton location is home to one of our largest offices, with a bright, open-plan working space and on-site restaurant and coffee shop offering a blend of homemade meals and sweet treats.
More about us: Formed via a merger in 2020, Moore Barlow recently launched its refreshed brand and firmly positioned itself as a leading regional law firm. We are featured in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2024 list and consistently achieve recognition for the quality of our services in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.
We strive to develop long-term working relationships with our clients by ensuring that we deliver our services with empathy, expertise, and a “Human-First” approach. We are now 450 people, including 272 lawyers and 72 Partners, with offices across the South-East and London.
About the role
Our Legal Assistants are a critical part of our team who undertake a mix of both administrative duties and providing outstanding service to our Clients, assisting them with queries, client onboarding, and other regulatory checks/requirements. You’ll work within a collaborative team who truly value each other’s input and support.
In addition to administrative tasks and client communication, you will also support various financial and legal matters within the Court of Protection team. This includes, but is not limited to, working closely with the team’s Finance Administrator, assisting with billing administration, preparing and managing engagement letters with some dictation, handling new client enquiries, file opening and closing, and liaising with cost draftsmen.
Our Court of Protection Team is responsible for helping and supporting individuals with diminished mental capacity, and they do so in a truly caring way – this relates back to our core values as a firm, including always being ‘Human First’. If you have an interest in helping others, this role will enable you to do so in an environment that gives you the opportunity to quickly develop and learn new skills.
What we look for…
We are a supportive and friendly team looking for someone with a similar approach. You may be a law graduate with experience as a Legal Assistant (or in a similar role) seeking a new challenge, or someone with strong administrative skills looking to transition into the legal field.
Regardless of your background, the ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting clients during what can often be a difficult time. This role involves direct interaction with clients and internal Partners, so strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Our Legal Assistants play a vital role in keeping everything running smoothly. You should be comfortable taking on responsibility, working both independently and with direction, and adopting a proactive approach to your work.
