We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Wandsworth, on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37hrs per week as a Customer Service Tutor.

The role
As the Customer Service Teacher at HMP Wandsworth, you will play a crucial role in helping our learners develop essential skills that will serve them throughout their lives and possible employment opportunities upon release. You will be responsible for effectively delivering the City & Guilds Award for Introduction to Customer Service (Entry 3 and Level 1) qualifications and ensuring that all learners successfully complete the portfolio to the expected standards. The ability to work to a deadline is essential for this role.

This is an amazing opportunity to work as part of a close knit, supportive management team who are committed to staff wellbeing. This is a full-time position, Mondy to Thursday 8 till 5 and Friday 8 till 1pm. All work takes place on site within the working hours and there is not a requirement to complete any additional work during the evening or weekends.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the day-to-day management of learners to achieve their Entry 3 or Level 1 qualification.
Ensure full compliance with health and safety and protocols e.g. GDPR, enrolment and attendance.
Accountable for quality assurance and quality improvement across the qualification.
Liaise with key prison personnel in relation to pastoral care of learners, as required.
Ensure full compliance to prison systems, processes and protocol.

Remuneration update
Under our Collective Bargaining agreement with our recognised union (Unison and UCU), we have agreed a number of changes to terms and conditions of employment with effect from 1st April 2025. These changes offer colleagues enhanced remuneration and benefits package. This includes time off for your own wellbeing, competitive and structured pay, generous holiday entitlement etc. Further information can be provided as part of the recruitment process.
From 1st April 2025, the salary range for this role will be updated to £29,047 to £38,124 (depending on experience and qualifications), plus £5000 (FTE) London Weighting Allowance.
Qualifications
Essential
Teaching qualification or subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (Level 5 - new standards) with a commitment to obtain the relevant outstanding Level 4 (Level 5 - new standards) qualification within a specified time scale (required)
Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
Track record of effective teaching in subject specialism
Gain /hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checkDesirable
Working within a secure environment
Working with learners with challenging behaviour
