We are seeking three qualified nurses (RN or RSCN or RMN or RLDN) to join our team as Clinical Nurse Specialists in our community paediatric service. This role involves assessing and supporting children/young people with neurodevelopment disorders including prescribing and monitoring the effect of medication for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
The role is varied, and you will be working with a multi-agency team made up of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Paediatricians, and Support Workers.
The post holder will either have a Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or be willing to undertake this in the first year. The ideal candidate will have an additional post-registration training Specialist Community Practitioner qualification - Health Visiting or School Nursing and consolidated experience as a band 6 practitioner.
This is a highly specialist post and all training will be provided for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team to contribute to the assessment, diagnosis, and support of children with neurodevelopmental disorders, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This will include undertaking medication reviews which involve independent prescribing.
The post holder will contribute to the redesign and development of services and pathways delivered from the Child Development Centre to meet the needs of the children.

Job responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide specialist advice and nursing care in keeping with NICE guidance, and local guidelines around treatment options and age-appropriate care to optimise treatment.
2. Contribute to multi-professional assessments of neurodevelopmental disorders in children and young people referred to the Child Development Centre using up-to-date and evidence-based assessment techniques and tools.
3. Provide specialist nursing expertise within and across professional boundaries and develop and streamline Child/Young person care pathways between professionals/partners and in collaboration with other partners.
4. Prioritise workload to ensure the most effective use of time to meet current and changing needs of service.
5. Participate in specific projects as required both in the department and across the trust.
6. Provide education to parent groups and teaching staff in regard to neurodevelopmental disorders where appropriate.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* Registered Nurse/ Learning Disability (RNLD), Mental Health (RNMH) Children's Nurse (RNC)
* Independent Non-Medical Prescriber qualification (V300) or willingness and commitment to undertake training
* Specialist Community Practitioner qualification - Health Visiting or School Nursing
Experience
* Experience of working with children/young people and families who have complex needs
* Extensive experience of care assessment, planning, and implementation
* Knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. ADHD, ASD) underpinned by theory and/or practice.
Knowledge & Skills
* Excellent communication skills- based on fluency of English language with children & young adults
