Role Description We're looking for ambitious, product-focused Engineering Leads who are excited both by our product vision and the prospect of joining us on our mission to transform SME funding. You will be a trusted technical authority within the organisation, responsible for leading a team of engineers, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity, engineering excellence, continuous improvement and innovation. You will form a tight partnership with cross-functional teams to execute on your product team's vision and roadmap. We are building class leading tools to give deeper and actionable insights to financial institutions on their portfolios. You'll Collaborate closely with your Product Manager and Engineers to optimise execution of a collaboratively agreed and managed backlog. Maintain your team's short and long-term technology strategy while aligning with Funding Xchange's broad strategic mission. Operate as a Player-Coach splitting your time equally between delivery and team leadership. Empower your team members by trusting them with tasks and projects according to their expertise and ambitions. Provide continuous feedback to all engineers and manage their career development through performance reviews. Ensure the delivery process with your team is effective, transparent and the outcomes are celebrated. Be accountable for architecture and quality - ensure we ship high-quality, stable, scalable, and secure code. Foster a collaborative approach towards architecture and facilitating data-driven decisions. Work with other Engineering Leads to deliver cross-organisation engineering initiatives. Help with recruiting efforts for hiring engineers and technical leads within and out of your network. Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes within and across the company. Who you'll be You have experience leading, coaching, mentoring and scaling driven and high performing tech teams. You are comfortable with ambiguity but know when the situation requires to be specific and are adept at working with stakeholders across a range of technical and non technical disciplines. You have experience managing your team with a balance of compassion and delivery focus ensuring that a sustainable pace is maintained. You have experience across the stack with technologies like Node, Kotlin/JVM, Golang, Python, databases (Postgres/NoSQL), PubSub/Kafka/Pulsar, and Cloud platforms like AWS or GCP. You are at the forefront of development practices like TDD, BDD, CI, CD and know where and how it's appropriate to apply each. You have a passion for solving complex business problems with a balance of technology and people. You have the ability to articulate a long-term technical vision and define the path for how to get there. You have experience identifying cross-cutting problems, proposing solutions, and driving adoption of those solutions across teams with their priorities. You bring excellent written and verbal communication skills and a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices. Fully-remote UK based or work from our Hub in Shoreditch, London, whatever you prefer. We'd like someone who's prepared to come to the London office on occasion.
