An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sensors Section Leader to join our EC&I sub-systems Department at Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby.
You will be involved in leading the SSNA sensors programme of work and supporting a section of 7 engineers with headcount to grow to deliver on-time products and design outputs. Working with the supply chain, the shipbuilder, and teams within the department closely to ensure quality products and design outputs are delivered to the customer on time.

What you will be doing:
1. Leading the delivery of work packages across the SSNA programme to agreed time and costs
2. Managing a section of 7 engineers with headcount to grow
3. Leading the design development of several new sensor products to support the SSNAUKUS programme
4. Leading the response to rectifying build and commission sensors equipment defects/requests for technical information involving some occasional on-site work
5. Leading the production of build and commissioning documentation
6. Leading the evaluation of the safety and integrity of the sensor's products
7. Leading the production of safety case design documentation to support the safe operation of the plant
8. Ensuring process adherence and appropriate governance is applied to all design-led activities.
9. Performing the role of SCRUM master in managing the team's day-to-day activities in line with the wider plan.
Who we are looking for:
1. Leadership experience
2. Great people skills with the ability to effectively communicate and influence
3. Programme management experience, managing several complex programmes
4. Electro-Mechanical Design experience ideally for NPI
5. Experience of Lifecycle Engineering
6. Electrical and/or mechanical experience and qualifications
7. Knowledge of Sensor Systems and/or high integrity systems
8. Experience of product development
To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don't currently have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
