We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ASD Teaching Assistant to join our team at Teaching working with pupils with ASD. This role involves supporting students with a variety of needs, including personal care, behaviour management, and facilitating learning in both individual and group settings.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils with ASD, promoting their educational, social, and emotional development.
2. Assist with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and nappy changing.
3. Support students with challenging and disruptive behaviour, using strategies to de-escalate situations and promote positive behaviours.
4. Help to create and implement tailored learning plans and ensure they are followed.
5. Assist with maintaining a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for students.
6. Build strong relationships with pupils, ensuring they feel valued, respected, and included in all activities.
7. Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to monitor student progress and contribute to planning meetings.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Previous experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a school or care setting.
2. Confidence and ability to manage challenging and disruptive behaviours.
3. Experience in providing personal care, including feeding and nappy changing, for children with additional needs.
4. A positive, patient, and empathetic attitude with a proactive approach to supporting students.
5. Strong communication and teamwork skills to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents.
